Description

Flixotide Inhaler 50mcg (120 Doses) – Fluticasone Propionate Asthma Preventer Evohaler

Flixotide Inhaler 50mcg (120 Doses), also known as Flixotide Evohaler, is a prescription asthma preventer designed to deliver accurate doses of fluticasone propionate, a corticosteroid medicine that reduces inflammation in the airways. By decreasing swelling and irritation inside the lungs, this inhaler helps patients gain long-term control of asthma symptoms, reduce the frequency of attacks, and improve breathing quality.

This inhaler is suitable for patients with varying levels of asthma:

  • Mild asthma – for patients requiring regular bronchodilator use.
  • Moderate asthma – for those not adequately controlled with bronchodilator alone.
  • Severe asthma – for patients dependent on oral corticosteroids, potentially reducing or replacing the need for tablets.
  • Children (4 years and older) – who require daily prophylactic asthma management.

Flixotide Inhaler is not intended for immediate relief of sudden asthma symptoms or acute attacks. Patients should always carry a short-acting reliever inhaler (such as salbutamol) for emergencies.

The inhaler can be used with a Volumatic spacer device, particularly beneficial for children or patients who struggle to coordinate inhalation. Proper technique is essential—regular checks with a healthcare provider are recommended to ensure effective delivery.

With consistent use as prescribed, Flixotide can help patients achieve better asthma control, minimize flare-ups, and maintain active, healthy lifestyles. Long-term use should always be monitored by a healthcare professional to prevent overtreatment or systemic corticosteroid side effects.

How to Use Flixotide Inhaler 50mcg

  • Adults:
    • Mild asthma: 100 mcg twice daily
    • Moderate–severe: 250–500 mcg twice daily
    • Maximum dose: 1000 mcg twice daily (specialist supervision only)
  • Children (4 years and older):
    • Starting dose: 50–100 mcg twice daily
    • If uncontrolled: may increase to 200 mcg twice daily

Instructions for use:

  1. Shake the inhaler well before each use.
  2. Exhale fully before placing the mouthpiece in your mouth.
  3. Inhale deeply while pressing down on the canister.
  4. Hold breath for a few seconds before exhaling slowly.
  5. Rinse mouth after use to reduce the risk of oral thrush.
  6. Use while sitting or standing upright.

Precautions

  • Not suitable for treating acute asthma attacks. Always keep a rescue inhaler.
  • Regularly monitor asthma symptoms and lung function (e.g., peak flow).
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of tuberculosis, infections, or other lung conditions.
  • Long-term high-dose use requires monitoring for systemic corticosteroid effects.
  • Always follow your doctor’s prescribed dosing and never stop suddenly without medical advice.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Flixotide may cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Possible effects include:

  • Oral thrush (fungal infection in the mouth)
  • Hoarseness or throat irritation
  • Cough after inhalation
  • Headache
  • Rare: systemic corticosteroid effects (especially at high doses), such as adrenal suppression, growth retardation in children, or eye problems (glaucoma, cataracts)

Rinse your mouth after every dose to lower the risk of oral side effects. Report persistent or severe symptoms to your doctor immediately.
