Lantus Solostar 100 IU/ml is a long-acting insulin containing Insulin Glargine, designed to provide steady 24-hour blood sugar control for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It comes in a convenient pre-filled injection pen (Solostar), making administration easy and precise.
Unlike short-acting insulins, Lantus maintains consistent insulin release throughout the day and night, helping patients achieve stable blood glucose levels and reducing the risk of fluctuations. It is often prescribed as part of a basal-bolus insulin regimen or as a standalone basal insulin.
Each pack contains 5 pre-filled pens, providing a supply for multiple weeks depending on dosage.
How to Use Lantus Solostar Insulin 100 IU/ml (5ās)
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
- Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) once daily, at the same time each day.
- Rotate injection sites (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm).
- Do not mix with other insulins in the same syringe.
Precautions
- Not for treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
- Monitor blood glucose regularly.
- Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart disease.
- Store in the refrigerator (2ā8Ā°C). Once in use, pens can be kept at room temperature for up to 28 days.
Possible Side Effects
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
- Injection site reactions (redness, itching).
- Weight gain.
- Rare: severe allergic reaction or swelling.
